Warning issued to dog owners who use Ayrshire golf course for walks

A warning has been issued to dog owners who use an Ayrshire golf course for walks.

East Ayrshire Leisure has asked that pet owners ensure that dogs are kept on a lead at all times when walking in and around the woodland areas of Annanhill Golf Club.

Bosses at the organisation have also encouraged pet owners to use the large park next to the Kilmarnock course, rather than the course itself.

Chiefs at the club also ordered dog walking business to stop using the golf course as an exercise area.

East Ayrshire Leisure posted on Facebook: "Could we kindly ask dog walkers to ensure they keep their dogs on a lead at all times when walking in and around the woodland areas of the golf course.

"We want to encourage people to enjoy our green spaces, however this is first and foremost a golf course and with a large park area right next to the course, we would encourage pet owner to use this area first.

"We also ask that dog walking businesses refrain from using the golf course as an exercise area."
