A warning have been issued to teenagers after a 16-year-old died while swimming in a quarry.
Jamie Lewin, 16, from Southport, died after getting into difficulty in the water at East Quarry, Appley Bridge on July 9. He was the third person to die in the water at the Lancashire quarry, following teenagers Miracle Godson in 2015 and Craig Croston in 2019.
In response to the recent tragedy, Merseyside Police have issued a warning to young people taking to the water at a Merseyside beauty spot. Carr Mill Dam, in St Helens is a popular spot for walkers and anglers, but with the record breaking heatwave, teenagers have been spotting diving from the high bridge and swimming in the water.

The bridge overlooking the dam has a significant drop to the water's surface, posing a significant potential threat. In a statement, Merseyside Police said: "We are receiving reports of a number of youths jumping from the bridges into Carr Mill Dam.
"We shouldn't need to remind you of the dangers involved in this, and there have been recent tragic incidents in local towns as a result of such behaviour. If you think your child may be involved please advise them accordingly."
