One Dublin taxi driver has warned other cabbies about an ongoing scam in the capital where a group of people are going around trying to pay for fares with counterfeit notes.
The driver released footage of a recent fare where he caught a passenger out red handed as he tried to pay with fake money.
The passenger hands over the cash while the car is stood still and immediately, the driver holds it up to the light.
Suspicious, the driver then uses a money detector pen to find out if the note is a dud or not.
The passenger visibly becomes uneasy when the driver shows him that he's checking the note.
The driver tells him "I can't accept that" to which the passenger replies "are you serious?".
He also added that he "had no card" and was unable to pay for the fare as it was the only form of payment that he had.
Instead of challenging the passenger, he just tells him to leave the taxi.
There has been reports in recent weeks about tourists using fake 20 and 50 euro and pound notes.

A spokesperson for Dublin Taxi Drivers said that: "There has been plenty of reports of tourists using fake notes."

They added that: "That footage is from a fare from Camden Street to Dame Street on Sunday night 28 April at 9pm.
"It looks like he didn't get paid in the end either."
