Warning issued after doorstep scammer offers 'immunity injections' for under-fives

A warning has been issued after a person posing as a medical professional went door-to-door offering to give children "immunity injections".

According to StokeOnTrentLive , incidents were reported last Thursday and Friday in North Staffordshire.

Parents have been warned to be on their guard and told that the man is carrying a fake ID.

The scam comes as hundreds of coronavirus cases have been confirmed across the UK.

However, members of the public have been reminded that there is currently no vaccine for the virus and that the NHS will never cold-call.

One person talked about their experience with the fake NHS worker.

They posted a statement to Facebook, writing: "Be aware! There is a white male, English, doing the rounds in the Blythe Bride area knocking on doors asking if there's children under five in the house. He claims to be from the NHS with ID.

"He was literally offering door-to-door immunity injections with no pre-warning so be suspicious if you have a knock at the door.

"He was around the Mayfield Drive area at 1.30pm."

An NHS spokesman said: “The NHS does not cold call people."

Staffordshire Police has been approached for a comment.
