Warning given to Irish households after tiny mouse causes fire and gets burnt to death

Dublin Fire Brigade has issued a warning to the public to keep an eye out for little homeinvaders - after a mouse caused a fire and perished.

Fire brigade callouts are at their highest in October, with 1,821 incidents reported to Dublin Fire Brigade in October of 2020, more than double those in the likes of April.

This can mainly be put down to Halloween and the subsequent build up to Halloween, but other smaller incidents will sometimes cause the emergency services to be called.

This was the case on Wednesday morning, when a member of the public noticed a strange smell coming from their fuse board.

A small fire was discovered and DFB immediately responded.

The cause? A mouse.

A DFB spokesperson said: "Firefighters were called to reports of a fire in a fuse board today. The fire was quickly extinguished and a small mouse was discovered to be the source of the problem.

"Never hesitate to call for help if you smell or suspect a fire is present

"Call 999 or 112"
