- Lufthansa pilots, represented by the VC union, will stage a two-day strike from Thursday over an ongoing dispute regarding pensions.
- The industrial action will affect Lufthansa Cargo AG and Lufthansa passenger flights departing from German airports from 12.01am on 12 March and 11:59pm on 13 March.
- Flights to specific countries in the Middle East will be exempt from the strike due to the conflict in the region.
- The union said that despite intermittent talks since a ballot last year, no satisfactory offer has been made to pressure the company into granting more generous retirement benefits.
- VC President Andreas Pinheiro expressed regret over the escalation, saying that the company is unwilling to discuss substantial improvements to the pension scheme.
