Warning for ice overnight as drivers urged to take care

After a period of fairly mild winter weather, West Lothian Council is warning residents that road surface temperatures are expected to fall below freezing this evening through to tomorrow morning.

Colder weather is expected to be with us for the remainder of the week with the cold, dry conditions expected to result in a widespread frost.

The advice is to take care when out and about and give yourself more time when travelling

The council’s fleet of gritters will be out this evening and during the night treating priority carriageway routes. Real time gritting information is available on the council’s online gritter tracker.

Throughout the winter, the council monitor specialist forecast data to decide when and where gritting is needed. The council has emphasised that they cannot treat every path and every road simultaneously and must prioritise routes.
