Households that use alternative fuels are being urged to claim £200 in support before time runs out in the coming days.
It is understood that around two million people across the UK use fuels such as heating oil, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), coal, or biomass to heat their homes. Many of these households will have already received the £200 Alternative Fuel Payment last February.
This payment should have been handed out alongside the £400 entry bill support. Despite this, not all households would have received this payment despite being eligible.

Now, eligible households only have until May 31 to apply for the payment before missing out completely. Applications are quick and easy via the gov.uk website or by calling 0808 175 3287.
Following this, you should receive an email or letter within six weeks that will confirm whether or not you will receive the extra cash via bank transfer. For your application, you must provide proof of any alternative fuels you've purchased since June 1, 2022 which totals to at least £200.
According to the government, you may be eligible for the AFP if both of the following are true:
- Your household is not connected to the mains gas grid
- You use alternative fuels as your main form of heating
