Warning for drivers as major roadworks are set to hit Lanark this week

Major road improvement works in Lanark are about to get underway.

The work will start from 7am tomorrow (Tuesday, February 4) and last for four days on the Castlegate, between its junction with Hyndford Place and its junction with Delves Park.

The work is part of South Lanarkshire Council’s Roads Investment Programme.

A diversion route, via High Street, Bloomgate and Friars Lane, will be in operation for the duration of the closure.

Chair of the Community and Enterprise Resources Committee, Councillor John Anderson, said: “These works are essential to improve the road surfaces on a longer-term basis and unfortunately can’t be carried out without some inconvenience to road users.

“We would ask that anyone travelling in any of the areas during the times mentioned pays particular attention to the diversion routes which will be clearly signposted.

“Every effort will be made to complete these improvements as early as possible to allow the roads to be reopened to traffic.”
