Warning as kids found taking 'dangerous' Stoner Patch cannabis sweets

Parents are being warned after kids were found with "dangerous" cannabis sweets in Warrington.

Packets of the Stoner Patch sweets were shared online by officers from Cheshire Police who say they are currently doing the rounds among young people in the town.

The officers in Appleton have explained that the sweets are particularly dangerous to the young people who seem to be taking them.

According to police, this is because unlike inhaled cannabis, the sweets can have a delay in reaction and people who aren't used to the effects of cannabis could be at risk of overconsumption.

On Facebook, police officers in the Appleton area of Warrington said on Facebook: "Parents please be aware of cannabis infused sweets currently doing the rounds amongst young people in Warrington.

"They are a particular danger to inexperienced users due to potential overconsumption.

"Unlike inhaled cannabis these need to be digested causing a delay in reaction."

Officers also replied to a number of people who didn't believe the sweets posed a risk to young people.

One man said: "I love how you say 'danger due to overconsumption' when we all know you can't OD on weed."

But police were quick to clarify and said: "Overconsumption particularly in the inexperienced can cause nausea, paranoia and anxiety but don't let that get in the way of good old trolling."

An online retailer that sells the gummy sweets describes them as "a Sour Patch gummy infused with cannabis (THC)".

The website said: "Stoner Patch Dummies, also known as Stoner Patch Gummies, are bite-sized gummies that taste like Sour Patch Kids.

"They taste sweet and also come in a variety of flavors like Grape, Tropical, Watermelon, and Strawberry gummies."

Officers have said these features make them particularly appealing to children.
