Warning as e-scooter riders get on Nottingham tram despite safety measures

Passengers on a tram could not continue their journey until two e-scooter riders got off.

The incident was reported by a commuter who eye-witnessed the scene at around 3.45pm on Sunday (August 15).

Two young men got on the tram at the Nottingham Trent University stop with their e-scooters.

The commuter told Nottinghamshire Live that the tram going to Hucknall stopped for 10 minutes before continuing its journey.

According to NET safety guidance, e-scooters, bicycles and similar items of personal transport are not permitted on the tram unless they can be folded up and stored securely on board.

The tram driver then proceeded to inform the riders on the rules and asked them to get off.

Normal service resumed after the incident with no significant delays.

A NET spokesman said: “For the safety and comfort of customers, e-scooters, bicycles and similar items of personal transport are not permitted on the tram unless they can be folded up and stored securely on board.

“On Sunday, two young men with e-scooters were reminded of the rules at the Nottingham Trent University stop and got off the tram, which resumed its journey a few minutes later.”
