Warning after yobs smash up police cars two nights in a row

Police have warned parents to "know where your children are" after masked yobs smashed up police cars.

The gang, wearing face coverings, smashed the windows of police cars on two consecutive nights. The first incident happened on Thursday evening with yobs smashing the window of a police vehicle at Croft Retail park in Bromborough.

Police reported a similar incident happened at the same location the next evening. They have since pleaded with parents and carers to "please know what your children are up to when out in the evening."

They said they have "various sources of CCTV" and will be taking action when the culprits are identified.

A statement posted on the Wirral Police Facebook page said: "For the second evening in a row a Merseyside Police vehicle has had one of its windows smashed on Croft Retail Park in Bromborough.

"Youths so brave that they cover their face and run away afterwards. Both vehicles are now off the road and can't assist in helping the public when needed in an emergency.

"Parents or carers, please know what your children are up to when out in the evening. We are working with businesses, schools, housing associations, Wirral Council ASB team and have various sources of CCTV.

"When we identify those responsible, action will be taken by the police in company with housing and the council."

Police asked that anyone with information on the two incidents report it via 101 quoting crime reference number 23000080096 or via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
