Warning after two children spotted 'chilling' at side of M1

A warning has been issued on social media after two children were spotted standing dangerously at the side of a motorway.

Nottinghamshire Police went at the scene after CCTV footage of the children sat at the side of the M1 near J26.

Highways England traffic officers were also at the scene to address the incident that took place at 8.13pm on Monday, July 19, according to the CCTV camera details.

The highway service has issued a capture of the two children stood by the motorway alongside with the caption: "It may be warm out there, but the motorway is no place to 'chill'.

"Our traffic officers and Nottinghamshire Police are en-route to address 2 kids sat at the side of the M1 near J26."

According to the service, the children ran off down the embankment upon seeing blue lights approaching.

They added: "They ran off down the embankment upon seeing blue lights approaching so we didn't rolling block on this occasion."
