Warning after man attempts to lure children into van with sweets in Clevedon

Police have launched an investigations after a man allegedly attempted to lure children into a van by offering them sweets in Clevedon.

The terrifying incident happened outside the children's home and was reported to Avon and Somerset Police on Monday evening (September 23), according to our sister paper Somerset Live .

Officers have praised the children for their actions after they refused the offer and told their parents straight away.

A force spokeswoman said: “We received a report of a man driving a white van who had approached a group of children who were playing outside in Clevedon at about 6pm on Monday, September 23.

"The children did exactly the right thing by leaving and telling their parents when they were offered sweets by the man. The van then left.

"Anyone with information that could help us with our enquiries is asked to call 101 and quote log 0914 of Monday, September 23.”

It is understood parents of children who attend a nearby school have been warned about the incident by the headteacher.
