Warning after family-of-six walk out of village pub without paying £114 bill

Managers at a village pub say they have reported a family-of-six to police after they walked out without paying. The Sun Inn in Everton, Nottinghamshire, said the group had Sunday lunch on March 13 but failed to settle their bill.

The family of two adults and four children racked up a bill of £114 after tucking in to roast dinners, sides and drinks. Pub staff are warning other businesses in the hospitality industry to be alert for so-called "walkouts" as the summer season approaches, reports NottinghamshireLive.

Posting on Facebook, a spokesperson said: "A heads up to all hospitality venues in the local area. We had a walk out at lunchtime, a couple with four children.

"They have been reported to the police. Please be careful as we are not the first pub in the area this week."

It came less than a week after another pub in nearby East Retford was left "like a bomb site" by two families who also failed to pay. Four adults and their children dined at The White Horse Inn on the evening of March 8.

The order rounded up to £330 and the families reportedly vanished without paying at around 9pm. Police are actively investigating this separate incident.
