Warning after cold callers in Stockport become 'aggressive' after being challenged

Police in Stockport have warned the community to be vigilant after two cold callers became 'aggressive' when challenged.

Police received reports of two suspicious males knocking on the front doors of elderly residents in Bramhall and offering to cut down trees last Friday.

When they were approached by a support worker from a nearby property and challenged, they became aggressive and drove off.

The police say it is possible the males could have been genuine, but have advised caution.

Posting about the incident on social media, police wrote: "On 26/06 we received reports of 2 suspicious males knocking on elderly residents front doors in the Bramhall area offering to cut trees down.

"The males were approached by a support worker from a nearby property and when challenged became aggressive and drove off.

"This may well of been genuine however please remain vigilant when answering the door to anyone and advise any elderly relatives and neighbours to do the same".
