Warning after bogus charity collectors go door-to-door claiming to be from Maggie's

Police are warning the public to be vigilant after bogus charity collectors were spotted going door to door around Grangemouth.

Two women were seen canvassing in the area on Wednesday, claiming to be from Maggie's.

However the charity, which helps people with cancer and has centres around the country, does not raise money in this way.

The women were asking to residents to sign up for direct debit donations.

Police Scotland said: "Maggie's Forth Valley do not fundraise door-to-door and these women were not acting on behalf of Maggie's.

"Do no give them any money or provide any personal information.

"Anyone with any information about this should contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 1100 of 31 May."
