Warning about 'nasty' new TikTok craze where holes are poked in supermarket condoms

People are being warned of a dangerous new TikTok trend, where holes are being poked in supermarket condoms.

The craze sees people dare each other to use needles to pierce the contraception on shelves.

An anonymous post on the Spotted Witney Official Facebook group aimed to make people aware of the bizarre fad.

"There's a new trend on Tik Tok where content creators are going into supermarkets and make holes into "[condoms]" by using needles,” the post read.

"Please ensure you purchase your "the items that shall not be named" from a safe location/behind the counter."

Responding to the post, one Facebook user, Chris Palmer, called it a "nasty thing to do".

Someone posting anonymously about the trend on Facebook has warned people to take care when buying condoms from stores (SWNS)

Nikki Hawtin added: "probably the same people who came up with the idea of opening up tubs of ice cream and licking it then putting the lid back on and back in the freezer."

Meanwhile, other users questioned the validity of the claims, noting that condoms are typically sold in sealed packaging.

Taylor Jay wrote: "They’re usually sealed so it would be easy to notice if they’ve been tampered with."

Laurent Matthews added: "'things you can’t bring yourself to name' are wrapped with a security tag on so it’d be pretty obvious if they’d been tampered with!"

Another user, Tony Bull-Carol joked: "Durex pect me to believe that !!!"

The challenge wasn’t the first involving birth control to go viral on social media in past years.

Another prior challenge involved snorting a latex condom through your nasal cavity and into the back of the throat.

The second was where a water-filled condom is dropped onto a person's head.

Both variations carry a risk of choking.
