Warm welcome for Pakistani bride at in-laws’ house in Jaisalmer

JAISALMER: Pakistani bride Nirmal Kanwar, who reached her in-laws’ place at Bayeeya village in Jaisalmer district two-and-a-half years after marriage, was accorded a traditional welcome here on Sunday.

Auspicious songs were sung, sweets were distributed and other rituals were observed. She met her 1.5-year-old son, who had been waiting for her for the last six months. Her husband Vikram Singh was in tears after seeing his wife. Prior to this, a welcome function was organised at MP service centre on Saturday. They were welcomed on behalf of Union minister Kailash Choudhary. Nirmal returned to India because of the efforts of Barmer-Jaisalmer MP Choudhary.

On Saturday evening, Nirmal reached Barmer from Atari border. All BJP leaders and local leaders were present at MP Seva Kendra at the collectorate to welcome Nirmal. Later, Choudhary’s private secretary Khemraj Kadvasara and BJP leaders welcomed Nirmal by draping her with a chunari and tying a turban to Vikram.

Vikram praised the efforts made by Choudhary and said that because of the MP’s efforts his wife could come to India.

In 2019, Vikram married Nirmal in Sindh area of Pakistan, but relations between both countries became tense after Pulwama attack and Balakot air strike and Nirmal did not get visa and could not come to India. In the meantime corona pandemic started and due to visa issues Nirmal remained in Pakistan but her son came to India in May.

Minister Kailash Choudhary said that he is happy that he could unite a family.

He said that on women’s day on March 8 this year two brides came to India but Nirmal could not come. Therefore, he was making continuous efforts and is happy that his little help could unite a family.
