'Warm, friendly young man': Funeral for Blake Riley funded by friends as police search for answers

Blake Riley's body was found in bushland near Toowoomba.

Members of the public have pitched in to help family and friends farewell a 28-year-old man whose body was found dumped in bushland near Toowoomba in southern Queensland last week.

Blake Riley's body was found by tourists near Preston-Boundary Road at Preston at about 9:00am last Thursday, with police declaring his death as suspicious.

An online fundraiser started by friend Felicity Hope raised nearly $3,500 for Mr Riley's funeral and has now been closed after organisers said they reached their target.

Ms Hope described Mr Riley, who lived in Toowoomba, as a "warm, friendly young man" and his death as "tragic".

"The unexpected loss of Blake Riley at the young age of 28 has devastated so many," she said.

"Blake … made his mark in the world not with grand gestures or fancy titles, but by the basic goodness and generosity of his character.

"I have known this family for 13 years and have always been amazed by their love and support for each other."

Ms Hope thanked those who had donated to the funeral for their "generosity and love".

The search for answers regarding Mr Riley's death continues with an ongoing police investigation based out of Gatton, in the Lockyer Valley.

Police are yet to confirm how Mr Riley died, or whether they have identified suspects.

Anyone with information, or who has witnessed any suspicious activity in the area, is urged to call Policelink on 131 444.
