Australia spinner Georgia Wareham has suffered a potentially serious knee injury after being hurt in the Melbourne Renegades' eight-wicket loss to Adelaide.
Wareham remained stricken on the ground for four minutes before limping from Blundstone Arena as the Strikers chased down Melbourne's 6-126 with 15 balls to spare.
Fielding on the offside boundary, Wareham was moving to her left to stop a Laura Wolvaardt (36no) square drive when she stumbled to the ground.
The blow comes just three months out from the Ashes, while a busy 2022 also includes a one-day World Cup and Commonwealth Games.
Wareham is ranked the No.10 best bowler in T20 cricket and is Australia's premier wrist-spinning option.
She managed just three games in last summer's Women's Big Bash, after suffering a bone stress injury in her leg.
It came after former Australian medium-pacer Sarah Coyte set up the Strikers' win, claiming 3-20 from her four overs.
Coyte's scalps included the key wickets of Sophie Molineux for nine and Jess Duffin on two, as the Renegades struggled for momentum throughout.
The equal-leading wicket-taker last year, the 30-year-old is now back atop this summer's chart with five in the Strikers' opening two wins.
It allowed the Adelaide side to cruise to victory, losing just two wickets as Tahlia McGrath continued her strong form with an unbeaten 50 from 39 balls.
