In a shameless new low for the Republican led government, House of Representatives Speaker Mike Johnson is suggesting that President Donald Trump be awarded a Nobel Peace Prize for bringing peace between Israel and Palestine after he stopped their “war”. The obnoxious proposition comes weeks after Trump himself started advertising that he is worthy of being conferred the title.
Recently, Speaker Mike Johson addressed the press following a ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas. While expressing joy over the event, Johnson attributed the outcome to President Donald Trump, highlighting that his achievements in this department were incomparable to those of others before him. Noting that the Israeli Knesset were considering endorsing President Donald Trump for next year’s Nobel Peace Prize, Johson mentioned to those present:
“I’m proud to tell you that together with my friend, Speaker Ohana of the Israeli Knesset, the equivalent of our Congress, we’re going to embark upon a project together to rally speakers and presidents of parliaments around the world so that we will jointly nominate President Donald J. Trump for next year’s Nobel Peace Prize.”
He proceeded by bootlicking for President Trump more directly, like he always does, and said:
“No one has ever deserved that prize more, and that is an objective fact.”
As he proceeded further with his Trump appreciation, he also mentioned that it was an “indisputable fact” that “no president” had “undertaken the work of saving lives” and “pursuing peace” with such “determination” and with such “remarkable success” as President Trump.
Clips of Mike Johnson’s comments about President Trump were circulated online through several social media platforms, including X (formerly Twitter), where they garnered a huge response. While the usual MAGA crowd hailed praises for their orange overlord, the rest were quick to call Johnson out for his revolting suggestions, especially after all that Trump has been doing since coming to power this year, including trying to establish an authoritarian government. One person on the internet rightly pointed out and said:
“Trump will NEVER EVER win a Nobel prize. The committee won’t vote for someone that invaded his own country with troops and who wants to be a dictator.”
Several others expressed similar views, highlighting Johnson’s silence on the government shutdown while showing excitement for nominating Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize. Priorities, indeed!
