Wanted sex offender with distinctive scars being hunted by police

A Liverpool-born sex offender is being sought by police after breaching the terms of his release from prison.

Steven Pinnington, 39, is described as having a scar on his right hand, a v-shaped scar on his right arm and a small scar on his inside left wrist.

His last known address was in Glasgow, but it is thought he may have travelled to areas where he has links which include Blackpool, Liverpool, Birmingham and Northern Ireland.

Lancashire Police made the appeal after Pinnington breached the registered sex offender notification requirements.

He is described as 5ft 7ins tall of slim build with green eyes, short dark hair and facial stubble. Along with the scars, he has a mole on his right cheek.

A spokesperson for Lancashire Police said: "Pinnington is wanted on recall to prison for breaching the sex offender notification requirements by not letting us know of his whereabouts.

"We would urge anyone who has seen him or knows where he is to come forward, anonymously if they want to."

A registered sex offender is a person, male or female, who has been convicted of a crime involving a sexual act.

The person is ordered to sign the Sexual Offenders Register, after they have served their criminal sentences or when they have been released on parole.

When placed on the register sex offenders are required to notify the police of certain details, with further notification required if any of those details change.

Anyone with information can contact police on 01253 604 019, email mosovowest@lancashire.pnn.police.uk, or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
