A wanted man 'throwing tiles' from the roof of a home in St Helens has been detained after a nine hour stand-off with police.
Merseyside Police arrived at St Matthews Grove in St Helens at around 8.50am today (Monday, September 20) to arrest a wanted man.
Once police arrived at the home, the man got onto the roof to evade arrest and police put a cordon in place.

Multiple police cars and matrix vans along with a police negotiator, the fire service and North West Ambulance Service were also in attendance.
The ECHO understands the man was shouting and throwing slates at the ground below.
One eyewitness who lives nearby said: "I came home from work and I've never seen this amount of police and emergency services in my life.
"I've heard the guy shouting but I couldn't make out what he was saying.
"Nothing like this has happened here before."
A man who lives on one of the surrounding roads said: "He's been in a standoff with police since around 9.30am and he’s been on a roof throwing slates down.

"The road has been cordoned off since around 10am. Numerous fire engines, an ambulance and several police cars and vans."
A spokesperson from Merseyside Police said: "We can confirm officers are at a property on St Matthews Grove in St Helens where a male is on the roof.
"We attended to arrest a wanted male at 8.50am today, Monday 20th September. Efforts to detain him remain ongoing.
"A cordon is currently in place while the matter is dealt with and a police negotiator is at the scene.
"We would like to thank the public for their patience and ask that motorists and pedestrians continue to avoid the area."
Police confirmed the man was no longer on the roof and had been detained by officers.
He was described as being 'safe and well' but police could not confirm if he had been arrested as the incident is 'ongoing'.
