Wanted man suffers life-changing injuries after falling from roof while trying to escape police

A 'wanted' man has suffered life-changing injuries after falling from a roof while trying to escape police.

Officers were called to Langton Street in Salford just after 5.15pm on Saturday evening.

It is understood they had a gone to a house on the street to arrest a wanted man.

But the man tried to escape and made off from police.

Shortly afterwards he fell from a roof and was taken to hospital.

Police initially described his injuries as serious, but have since said they are 'life changing'.

Exact details of the incident have not yet been released however GMP are expected to issue a further statement.

The man's age, or what he was wanted on suspicion of, is also not known at this stage.

According to witnesses, the scene was taped off for several hours on Saturday night with a police officer reportedly standing guard outside a property on the street.

A spokesman for GMP said: "Just after 5.15pm officers attended a location on Langton Street, Salford, to arrest a wanted man.

"The man made off before falling from a roof.

"The man has serious injuries but they are not thought to be life threatening."

Enquiries are understood to be ongoing.
