Wanted man arrested outside Aldi after '10 police officers' seen near the supermarket

A man wanted by police was caught by officers outside a supermarket in Redfield.

The wanted man was arrested outside Aldi this morning (August 6).

The 35-year-old man was being hunted by police after he failed to attend a court hearing at Bristol Magistrates. He had previously been charged with assault.

Around ten officers were spotted outside of the supermarket at approximately 11:40am.

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said: "Patrolling police officers spotted a wanted man at about 11.40am in Church Road, Bristol.

"The officers arrested a 35-year-old man who was wanted on a warrant issued by Bristol Magistrates Court after he failed to appear in connection with a charge of assault.

"He remains in police custody pending his court appearance."

A witness, who asked not to be named, said: "There were around ten officers there, they had surrounded him in the car park."
