A wanted man has been arrested and locked up after police allegedly found him with commercial grade explosives, ammunition and a homemade gun in a Canberra hotel room.
Jeremy Subasic, 26, was remanded in custody following appearances in two different courts on Friday.
In a statement, ACT Policing said it had received information about 10pm on Thursday that the man, who was "wanted in connection to bail and other offences", was at a Forrest hotel.
"Police attended the hotel and shortly after located a 26-year-old man and a woman staying in a room at the hotel," the force said.
"A number of items including commercial grade explosives, ammunition and a homemade firearm were located, requiring specialist officers to attend to make them safe."
The statement said police were continuing to investigate both the items allegedly found in the hotel room and a stolen vehicle located in a car park outside.
ACT Policing indicated it expected to lay charges over those things.
Mr Subasic briefly fronted the ACT Magistrates Court via video link from a remote room on Friday morning, having been charged by police with two counts of failing to appear in accordance with a bail undertaking and one of driving or riding in a stolen vehicle.
Prosecutor Kiara Sheridan said the 26-year-old had been apprehended, however, on a warrant issued by the ACT Supreme Court in relation to a drug supply charge.
Mr Theakston therefore suggested Mr Subasic be dealt with first in that court.
He sat in the dock there early in the afternoon as a different prosecutor, Claire Daly, said the warrant had been issued more than three months ago.
Legal Aid duty lawyer Solitaire Zahnleiter told Justice John Burns the 26-year-old would not apply for bail.
She said his usual solicitor, Peter Bevan, may make an application next week.
Mr Subasic then returned to the Magistrates Court, where he also declined to apply for bail in relation to the three fresh charges and 18 existing allegations of various things including unlawful possession of stolen property.
He has been listed to apply for bail in the Supreme Court next Friday morning.
