Wantaway Liverpool midfielder scores in six-goal thriller for U23s as transfer speculation continues

Ovie Ejaria was on the scoresheet for Liverpool Under-23s as they played out a 3-3 draw with Anderlecht Under-21s in Belgium on Sunday.

Having spent last season on loan with Rangers and Reading respectively, the midfielder is expected to leave Anfield this summer.

However, he won't be allowed to leave on loan, with the Reds prepared to sell the 21-year-old who has featured for Jurgen Klopp's first team since January 2017.

Left out of Liverpool's first team squad for their pre-season schedule as a result, Ejaria lined up against Anderlecht, managed by former Reds striker Craig Bellamy, as Neil Critchley's side's own preparations for the new season continued.

Falling behind to a penalty, Ejaria equalised for Liverpool before Tom Clayton headed home from a free-kick to cancel out a second goal from the Belgians.

Elijah Dixon-Bonner then fired the young Reds ahead from distance, only for Anderlecht to steal a share of the spoils late on with a dramatic equaliser of their own.

Liverpool U23s:  George, N Williams, Gallacher, Johnston, Boyes (Clayton, 70), Chirivella, Kane (Varesanovic, 80), Ejaria (Dixon-Bonner, 65), Millar, Christie-Davies, Bearne.
