Want to volunteer for Euro 2020 at Hampden? Here's how to apply

Line of Duty actor Martin Compston has urged his fellow Scots to help out volunteering for the Euro 2020 football championships.

UEFA is looking for 1000 people to help run the tournament when four games come to Hampden in June next year.

Compston, a volunteer ambassador, appears in a video claiming us Scots are going to put on a party for the fans who come to Glasgow.

He says: "There are 12 host cities, Glasgow is one of them and we're going to put on a bit of a party."

Whether Scotland will be playing in the tournament, only time will tell.

However, UEFA wants to make sure at least some of us get to experience a Euro championship. Some consolation, eh?

According to UEFA: "The objective of the UEFA EURO 2020 volunteer programme is to integrate and gather the population across Europe, as well as creating a legacy for the host countries.

"Furthermore, it is UEFA's ambition to ensure individuals enjoy an unforgettable experience that encourages others to volunteer for European football events in future.

"As usual, volunteers will support the delivery of the event's wide-ranging projects, including accreditation, ceremonies, transport, media, ticketing, match operations and spectator services."

To be in with the chance of being a volunteer you must be proficient in English, be over 18 years of age by 1 May 2020 and be available on each matchday.
