Want to pay $1.29 per litre for your petrol?

Metro Petroleum Mitchell is due to open in Lysaght Street, Mitchell, from 10am on Monday with some cut-rate opening day specials on petrol.

There's some petrol competition coming to town.

Owner Jim Singh says E10 will be $1.19/litre, unleaded $1.29/litre and diesel $1.37/litre. How long will it last?

"We will see. But they are definitely our opening day specials," he said. "We really want to provide some more competition in the north of Canberra."

There is also a Metro Petroleum in Fyshwick and a new one is due to open on the Barton Highway at Nicholls in January.
