Want to learn to communicate with your cat or dog? If so, take this new Edinburgh Uni course

A new Edinburgh University course starting today (22 April) can teach you how to understand your pets better while in lockdown.

The free course is called The Truth About Cats and Dogs and it aims to help you understand your pet's behaviour and the way they communicate with you.

A whopping 28,389 have already registered for the online animal behaviour boot camp, which aims to make you a more a "confident pet owner"

According to Edinburgh University, the course is divided into five topics that teach you how to better understand and bond with your pet.

The course is completed online and fits around your schedule; at the end you will receive a certificate.

It should take around nine hours to complete, with flexible deadlines that can be extended to suit your lockdown lifestyle.

Edinburgh University say: "At the start of the course we ask you to consider what you feel is important to your cat/dog and what your cat/dog means to you?

"We explore the world of cats and dogs and how our relationships with them vary around the world and have changed over time.

"We ask if we can really know what our animals are thinking or trying to communicate through their facial expressions and behaviours.

"From our beloved pets to street dogs, shelter dogs/cats and welfare challenges, we explore the world from their perspective and examine how their genetic make-up may influence their behavioural responses and choices."
