WBC minimumweight champion Wanheng Menayothin is confident that he will extend his unbeaten record to 53 wins when he faces Japan's Tatsuya Fukuhara in a title bout in Chachoengsao on Friday.
The fight is a rematch of the November 2017 bout in which Wanheng, whose real name is Chayaphon Moonsri, beat Fukuhara by a unanimous decision in Nakhon Ratchasima.
The programme will be shown live on Channel 7 (35) from 1.45pm.
Wanheng weighed in at 104.80 pounds and the Japanese 105 pounds on Thursday.
The 33-year-old Thai champion has won all his 52 fights with 18 knockouts while the 29-year-old challenger has won 20 and lost seven fights with six draws.
"I am 100 percent ready for the fight,'' said the 105-pound division champion, known in Thailand as Wanheng CPF. "I will do my best to retain the title."
His promoter Piyarat Vachirarattanawong said Fukuhara had improved since his loss to Wanheng two years ago.
"It will be tough for Wanheng but I think he is good enough to retain the title," he said.
Wanheng's manager Chaisit Kongkiatkong said he was confident that his boxer would win. "The Japanese is bigger and taller but this should not be a problem for Wanheng," he said.
Fukuhara said he was well-prepared for the rematch.
"I will knock him out in seven rounds," he said.
Wanheng is one of Thailand's only two reigning world champions, with the other being WBA miminumweight title-holder Knockout CP Freshmart.
