A 16-year-old boy is in hospital fighting for life after being shot in south west London.

Officers said the teenager was “seriously injured” after a shooting in Tooting at about 10.05pm on Thursday night.

Police and the London Ambulance Service raced to Burfield Close, Wimbledon Road after responding to calls about shots fired.

There was no trace of anyone injured, though.

About 10 minutes later, officers were called to a residential address on Blackshaw Road where they found the teenage boy injured.

In a statement, the Metropolitan Police said: “The injured male was taken by London Ambulance Service to a west London hospital where he remains in a serious condition.

“His family has been notified. We await further updates.

“Officers from Trident and Area Crime Command investigate. At this early stage there have been no arrests. Enquiries continue.”

Anyone who witnessed this incident or has information but has not yet come forward is asked to call Trident on 101 quoting CAD8236/18APR, Tweet @MetCC or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
