Wanderers ALW clash with City pushed back

Western Sydney's ALW match with Melbourne City on Saturday has been pushed to Sunday. (AAP)

Western Sydney's A-League Women game against Melbourne City has been pushed from Saturday until Sunday as the floods continue to impact Australia's sporting fixtures.

While the Wanderers' A-League Men game against Sydney will go ahead as scheduled on Saturday, the league announced the delay to the women's fixture and a change in venue.

The contest was scheduled to be a double-header at Parramatta's CommBank Stadium, but there are fears the surface won't be able to host consecutive matches given the deluge.

The ALW game will now be played at Wanderers Football Park at 12pm on Sunday.

"The pitch has been deemed fit for play for a single match this weekend, but concerns have been raised regarding the possibility of the surface being unable to support back-to-back matches due to the excessive rainfall that has continued throughout the week," the league's statement read.

"The increase in flood waters in the area around the venue has resulted in further flooding of the drainage system and has continued for a number of days due to being in close proximity to the flooded Parramatta River.

"The pitch has been unable to drain off excess water and therefore the surface is unable to thoroughly dry."
