An X-Files-style WandaVision spin-off is reportedly being pitched to Marvel Studios.
Since its debut last month, Marvel’s first TV series has won over both fans and critics. The Disney+ show is so popular that viewers are already floating ideas of potential spin-offs.
One idea that has gained particular traction on social media is a series focused on the character of FBI Agent Jimmy Woo, played by Randall Park.
Since Park reprised his role as Woo, who was first introduced into the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2018's Ant-Man and the Wasp, the secret agent has quickly become a favourite among fans.
Actor and director Stephen Ford’s tweet proposing a Woo-focused series that would riff on the style of the Nineties show The X-Files quickly went viral.
“Hear me out: An entire Disney+ show about Jimmy Woo just working weird cases in the MCU. Like a fun X-Files. Make it happen,” wrote Ford in late January.
The X-Files was a hugely popular sci-fi series that ran from 1993 to 2002, in which two FBI special agents (played by Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny) investigate paranormal cases.
Ford’s tweet has since received nearly 200,000 likes and over 27,000 retweets from people who support the proposal.
Over the weekend, Ford gave his followers a hopeful update on Twitter, stating: “We might have actually opened some doors on my Jimmy Woo X-Files idea.”
The Teen Wolf actor also revealed that he is “spending the weekend writing the pitch”.
However, he warned fans against getting their hopes up, writing: “Can’t express how much of an underdog I am in this scenario so [don’t] get too excited but cross your fingers and thanks to everyone who made it possible.”

When Park was asked in an interview with ComicBook whether he would be interested in the potential spin-off, the actor responded enthusiastically. He said: “I've heard that and I didn't know that, but I learned that today and I think that that would be amazing.
“And I would be down if you know [Marvel boss] Kevin Feige wanted that. In a heartbeat, of course, I would do it.”
