Wanda Sykes has confirmed that she's leaving ABC's wildly successful "Roseanne" revival following a racially charged insult made by the show's controversial star.
Sykes was a consulting producer on the sitcom's reboot, which follows the blue-collar Conner family in the Trump era.
The Emmy Award winner tweeted on Tuesday that she "will not be returning" to the show _ just a day after Roseanne Barr fired off a tweet insulting former Obama aide Valerie Jarrett, referred to Jarrett as the offspring of the Muslim Brotherhood and the "Planet of the Apes" film franchise.
Barr wrote the tweet in response to a Wikileaks claim that the CIA spied on French presidential candidates during the Obama administration.
The outspoken, conservative-leaning Barr deleted the insult and apologized on Tuesday, announcing that she will be quitting Twitter.
"I apologize to Valerie Jarrett and to all Americans. I am truly sorry for making a bad joke about her politics and her looks. I should have known better. Forgive me-my joke was in bad taste," she tweeted.
Skyes' departure comes on the heels of showrunner Whitney Cummings' exit. Cummings announced early this month that she will be leaving the show because of scheduling conflicts.
ABC renewed "Roseanne" in March and ordered a 13-episode season _ a second for the revival and 11th overall season.
