Walthamstow crash: Man dies in crash with lorry after being chased by police in east London

A man in his 30s has died after he was being pursued by police in east London.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene after being involved in a crash with a lorry at Waterworks Roundabout, Walthamstow, at about 3am on Sunday morning.

Before the crash with the lorry, officers have confirmed the man had failed to stop for the police.

Officers have not revealed why they were pursuing the man, however.

The police have confirmed the incident is being investigated by the Independent Office for Police Conduct.

In a statement, police said: “Emergency services attended and the car driver, believed to be aged in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

“We are not aware of any other injury, nor do we believe there was any other person in the car.

“Prior to the collision, the car had failed to stop for police.”
