(Picture: AP)A trailblazing female pilot who was one of the passengers on Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origins pace flight has given the 11-minute journey a candid review.
She joined Amazon founder Jeff Bazos, his brother Mark and 18-year-old Oliver Daemen on the successful space trip.
Wally Funk, one of the 13 women who passed Nasa’s astronaut training program in the 1960s, became the oldest person ever to travel into space on Tuesday.
Miss Funk, 82, has thanked the billionaire for the flight but the former Nasa trainee also revealed she had wanted to get more out of the trip.
“We went right on up and I saw darkness. I thought I was going to see the world, but we weren’t quite high enough.
“But there was not quite enough room for all four of us to do all those things,” she told the post-flight press conference.
“I loved every minute of it,” she said, adding, “I just wish it had been longer.”
The 11-minute flight reached 66.5miles in altitude.
Oliver Daemen, who made history as the youngest person to fly to space, said the flight “felt way cooler than it looked”.
The son of CEO and founder of hedge fund Somerset Capital Partners Mr Daemen added: “Everyone on the ground was way more emotional than we were.. We were just having fun.”
