Wallace and Gromit Musical Marvels show with live orchestra misses out Bristol on UK tour

The Wallace and Gromit ‘Musical Marvels’ show will not be appearing in Bristol due to a lack of venues with large enough capacities.

Carrot Productions were teaming up with Aardman to bring a live-orchestral show of Wallace and Gromit to Bristol - but could not find a venue with a large enough capacity for the show.

The lack of available venues and venues that could cater for large crowds saw the show miss out Bristol on its UK tour.

The popular Wallace and Gromit films are produced by Bristol-based Aardman Animations, whose co-founders last year sold the company to staff.

Rachel Whibley, Carrot Productions managing director, said: “We are really disappointed that we could not bring this show to Bristol.

“We tried for months to find a Bristol venue and bring the show here but could not find a place that suited our means.

“We needed venues that had 1000-plus capacities and that could handle the logistics of the show – but venues were either not available or just weren’t there for us.”

However, the show will look to run each year and Ms Whibley added: “We are intending to run this each year, so hopefully it will be here next year.”

The show sees live classical music accompany a screening of the BBC Proms Wallace and Gromit ‘Musical Marvels’ and a screening of the classic Wallace and Gromit film ‘The Wrong Trousers’.

Soleil Zuanich, spokeswoman for Aardman productions, said: “Aardman and Carrot Production did extensive research on potential venues in Bristol to host the Musical Marvels tour.

“But unfortunately, we could not find a suitable venue available during the tour dates with the technical and seating requirements to accomplish this.”

If you want to catch the show the nearest one will take place at The Forum in Bath, on May 31, with performances at 2pm and 6.30pm.
