Wallabies centre Samu Kerevi in doubt for spring tour after sustaining ankle injury

In-form Australian centre Samu Kerevi could miss the Wallabies' spring tour after sustaining an ankle injury in Saturday night's comfortable defeat of Argentina on the Gold Coast.

Kerevi limped off the field with the injury during the second half of Australia's 32-17 win in the final round of the Rugby Championship in Robina.

Wallabies medical staff are waiting on the results of Kerevi's scans before making a call on his availability for the overseas tour.

The Wallabies face Japan in Oita on October 23, before heading to Europe for Tests against Scotland, England and Wales.

"We'll see how we come through," Wallabies coach Dave Rennie said.

"Obviously [there are] question marks around Samu and there will be a few bumps and bruises that we'll have to have a look at."

Kerevi — a try scorer against the Pumas on Saturday night — played a key role in the Wallabies' four-match winning streak in the Rugby Championship.

They beat the Springboks in consecutive Tests and won twice against the Pumas to finish second to New Zealand on the Rugby Championship standings.

The Australian squad will now break for 10 days, before regrouping ahead of their departure for Japan.

"This tour is a great opportunity for us," Wallabies captain Michael Hooper said.

"A lot of our guys haven't been up north [northern hemisphere], and we've got a World Cup there [in France] in two years.

"To have the opportunity to play in front of hopefully full stadiums is great for everyone, and playing different teams will present different challenges."
