Wall-to-wall Christmas film TV channel to start on September 10

Christmas seems to come round earlier every year - and that's certainly true of one TV channel.

Sony Movies has announced it will begin broadcasting wall-to-wall Yuletide-themed films in less than two weeks' time, reports Mirror Online .

Previously known as True Christmas, the Freeview channel will this year be called Sony Movies Christmas.

It will be keeping the holiday spirit going from September 10 - more than 100 days before Christmas - and continuing all the way through to January.

With titles including Holiday Road Trip, Christmas With the Kranks, Silver Bells and Defending Santa on the schedule, they might not be amongst the classics of the genre such as Elf or Miracle on 34th Street.

But that will do nothing to deter those for whom this is their favourite time of year - and want to see the movies which are an indispensable part of the festive season.

Sony are also planning several big themed weekends for you to watch while you crack out a mince pie and glass of mulled wine.

These will include Bah Humbug, Christmas Animals, Santa Sunday and Christmas Comedy.

And to truly get you in the festive feels, they'll be playing an emotional movie like Christmas Grace and Moonlight & Mistletoe each evening from 7pm - so you'll want to have a box of tissues at the ready.

Those keen to start feeling real Christmassy can get stuck in from September 10 on Freeview 50, Sky 319, Virgin 424 and Freesat 303.

Of course Sony aren't the only ones feeling festive. Rumours have already started to circulate around what this year's John Lewis Christmas advert will be.

And last week, hordes of Santas gathered at the Royal Albert Dock to mark the 100-day countdown to Liverpool's renowned Santa Dash.

Meanwhile, a trailer for a new festive rom-com called Last Christmas recently dropped and people on Twitter went wild for it.

The film stars Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones) as Kate and Henry Goulding (Crazy Rich Asians) as Tom and is set to the music of the late George Michael.

Kate is a young woman working in a Christmas shop as an elf. Her life seems to be heading in a downwards spiral until she meets Tom, who helps her turn things around.

Directed by Bridesmaids director Paul Feig and written by Emma Thompson (who also stars as Kate's mum) the film is set to be released in cinemas on November 15 in the UK.
