Wall Street Journal to carry page one ads

The Wall Street Journal has confirmed that it is to carry front page advertising, probably from September. It could make the paper tens of millions of dollars every year. L. Gordon Crovitz, the Journal's publisher and executive vice president of its owner, Dow Jones & Company, described the single ad space as a "jewel box" which will be "the most valuable opportunity anywhere in any medium for advertisers who want to reach a large, affluent and influential audience." It is unclear what the Journal will charge, but media planners speculate that it could command anything between $75,000 (£41,000) to somewhere in the low six figures. (Via nytimes.com)
