Wall’s Pastry and Pork Farms group creates 50 jobs in Nottingham - and here is how to apply

Pork pie and sausage roll producer Addo Food Group is taking on 50 staff at its Riverside and Tottle bakeries in Nottingham, to meet rising demand for its products.

The group makes quiches, pies, pasties, slices, scotch eggs, sausage rolls and pork pies for major retailers, and owns ranges including Wall’s Pastry and Pork Farms.

To meet growing demand it has created new part-time, full-time, temporary and permanent jobs, including production and factory operatives, engineers, technical service managers, development chefs and technologists, executives and taste panel coordinators.

The business, a market leader in the UK’s £1.1 billion chilled savoury products sector, currently employs around 2,400 people.

Last autumn the Nottingham-based group was sold by private equity firm LDC to French-headquartered PAI Partners. Prior to the sale there were reports the deal might be worth £200 million.

Most recent accounts for Addo Food Group (Holdings) showed a turnover of £302.5 million in the year to March 2020 – down from £312.5 million a year earlier.

It makes around 300 million products every year and its other brands include Bowyers pork pies and Millers Bakery.

It now also makes vegan sausage rolls for Wall’s, as well as Pork Farms’ first Porkless Pork Pie – said to be an industry first.

Chief executive Deborah Bolton said: “We have kept the nation supplied with chilled pastry products over the past 16 months and we have been working hard to produce our quality pastries, pasties and party food for major retailers – as well as manufacturing rolls and pies for our leading brands Wall’s Pastry and Pork Farms.

“This recruitment drive will help to support our current employees with the surge in sales and there are a variety of positions available for people with all levels of experience, across our Nottingham, Shropshire, Dorset and Poole factories."

She said experience within the food manufacturing industry isn’t essential as full training will be provided for all roles.
