Wall banger jailed for 28 days

A man without a licence or insurance drove a car into a wall during an incident in an Ayr street.

Colin Wright, aged 39, of Blackfriars Walk, Ayr, appeared from custody at Ayr Sheriff Court on Tuesday, August 20. He pleaded guilty to three charges, including driving in a car park at Blackfriars Walk on March 21 without due care and attention and colliding with a wall.

Wright also drove the vehicle without a licence or insurance.

His defence solicitor said: “He’s currently serving a six-month custodial sentence and subject to a community payback order that will continue until April next year. He’s to be released in October.”

Wright was initially fined a total of £900 and handed eight penalty points.

But he was given no time to pay, so the alternative was an extra 28 days
in jail.
