Walking challenge for St Andrew's Hospice

St Andrew’s Hospice supporters are being asked to put their best foot forward for the charity in socially-distanced style.

The Airdrie charity was unable to stage its popular summer midnight walk this year, which has run for more than a decade – so fundraisers are now being asked to take part in its alternative “Not So Midnight” Walk.

Participants are asked to walk 34 miles, reflecting the number of years the hospice has been established, at their own pace in whatever way suits them in the coming weeks.

Maintaining the traditional midnight walk vibe, supporters are also asked to “rock your brightest item of clothing and look out those glow sticks” as they take part.

Registrations are open at etchrock.com/challenge/info/not-so-midnight-walk until August 28, and progress can be logged manually or by connecting fitness bands or walking apps to the website.

Last year’s midnight walk saw more than 700 people take part and raise more than £80,000 for St Andrew’s Hospice and its work in providing specialist palliative care for patients from across Lanarkshire, as well as supporting their families and carers.
