Thought hot honey was a little two years ago? Crisp giant Walkers disagrees.
The manufacturer has announced it’s launching a new flavour of crisp, Hot Honey, in response to huge internet interest — searches for the term have risen by 174 per cent in the last three years.
The new crisps will be available from January 12, available in a six pack format, with a recommended price of £2.15.
Hot Honey sits among the brand’s “Flavours of the World” line-up, which includes Sticky Teriyaki and Masala Chicken flavours, as of 2025. The launch coincides with a rebrand for Walkers, with a new logo that the brand says is “sun-inspired”. The overhaul is, Walkers says, the largest brand refresh in its nearly 80-year history.
“This is a landmark moment for Walkers as we undergo our biggest redesign in years and listen to crisp-lovers who said ‘show us the honey’, launching an on-trend flavour that reinforces Walkers’ dedication to flavour innovation,” said Wayne Newton, the brand’s marketing director.
To celebrate the launch, Walkers has announced a “Golden Potato” prize hunt, offering more than half-a-million prizes in packs, including five £10,000 wins.
Newton added: “Our Golden Potato promotion gives snackers an unmissable opportunity to win prizes, including up to £10,000. It’s the start of an incredibly exciting year for Walkers — so watch this space!”
Hot honey has its roots in the United States, where chilli-infused honey gained traction in the 2010s. Its popularity here arrived more gradually, carried over largely by American-style pizza, which has become huge in London in recent years.
