Walkers releases KFC-flavoured crisps that taste like fried chicken

KFC’s secret 11 herbs and spices will soon be available in crisp form, as the brand has joined forces with Walkers to release two new crisp flavours inspired by the fast food chain's fried chicken.

The first is a simple Kentucky Fried Chicken flavour (featuring the tastes of the Colonel's Original Recipe) and the second is the slightly spicier Double Crunch Zinger flavour.

The secret blend of flavours used to create KFC’s Original Recipe chicken is a closely-guarded industry secret, and a record of its exact ingredients is locked in a vault in the brand’s Louisville headquarters.

Both new varieties are part of the Walkers MAX range, which are ridged and extra crunchy. The new flavours will be available from 13 January.

Walkers' new flavour appears to have been inspired by a plea from a KFC fan.

On Monday 11 January, the brand quote-tweeted a post from Absolute Radio that read: "Hey @KFC_UKI, listener Jack has come up with the perfect flavour of crisp! LET'S DO IT!"

Alongside their message, Absolute Radio had shared an audio clip of a listener suggesting KFC's secret 11 herbs and spices would make a great new crisp flavour.

The RRP for a 50g 'grab bag' will be 85p and a 140g 'sharing' bag will set you back £1.99.

Bags of the new crisps will also feature a deal offering purchasers two for one on KFC meals when they collect in store.

It comes as KFC brought back its vegan burger last week. The burger will be available for takeaway and drive-thru until 28 February.

KFC first announced the launch of the burger in June 2019 - initially dubbing it “The Imposter” – and it went on to sell out within four days in chains across the country.
