Walkers left stranded at sea by the incoming tide in Tenby on Easter Saturday

Five people have been rescued after being cut off by the tide in Tenby this afternoon.

Tenby RNLI sent two lifeboats out at 4.15pm after receiving the call that walkers had been stranded by the incoming tide.

These were the queues to get to the top of Snowdon over Easter weekend

A volunteer at the station said: "We've just come back off the slip, and all five are fit and well.

"We haven't had a chance to talk to them yet, so we don't know if they are all one group, but we'll be speaking to them now.

"We sent out the All Weather lifeboat and the Inshore Lifeboat to bring them back to safety."

The RNLI issues advice on how not to get cut off by the tides if you're visiting Wales' gorgeous beaches this weekend: "The UK and Ireland have some of the biggest tidal ranges in the world.

"Before you head out, make sure it’s safe. Check the tide tables.

"While you’re out, be aware of your surroundings and the tide’s direction.

"A beach can seem like a vast playground but the tide can come in surprisingly quickly.

"As the tide moves up and down the beach, the depth of the water changes throughout the day, sometimes by as much as 10 metres.

"As the tide comes in, simply walking further up the beach and away to safety might not be an option."

Be aware, and check the tides to ensure that you don't get caught out.
