Walker woman used rock to smash 'casual lover's' front and rear car windscreens

An angry woman used a rock to smash the front and rear windscreens of a car belonging to her "casual lover".

Kelly Moore caused up to £5,000-worth of damage when she targeted the vehicle while it was parked outside his work.

A court heard that another woman was inside the car at the time and saw the 45-year-old approaching.

She then asked the female "What's your f*****g name and were is he?" before using a rock and a "blunt instrument" to smash the vehicle's front and rear windscreens.

Now, the angry outburst has proved costly for Moore, of Roman Avenue, in Walker, after she was ordered to pay £1,500 compensation when appeared before magistrates in Newcastle to plead guilty to one count of criminal damage.

Rebecca Slade, prosecuting, said the victim and Moore had been in a "casual relationship" between February and August last year.

The man worked as a delivery driver for a local fish shop and had parked his car outside the shop on the evening of August 28 2020.

Miss Slade continued: "A woman was in the car while he went into the shop. She was in the front seat and, while she was waiting, the defendant opened the door and asked "What's your f*****g name and where is he?"

"She informed the defendant he was in the shop. The defendant began to walk away but could be seen by the woman smashing the rear windscreen.

"She watched as the defendant walked back to the front door. She had a blunt instrument in one hand and a rock in the other."

The court heard that the female feared for her safety so exited the vehicle while Moore smashed the front windscreen.

In a statement, the owner of the car said: "The vehicle was my work vehicle. It's off the road. I'm out of work.

"This will cause me financial hardship."

Magistrates were told that the victim estimated the damage would cost around £5,000 to repair.

Karen Minhas, defending, said Moore had no past convictions and had flipped on the night in question.

She added: "Miss Moore felt she was preyed on by the victim. He used her to buy drugs for himself."

Fining Moore £120 and ordering her to pay £1,500 costs, chairing magistrate, Win Clayton, said: "You don't have any previous convictions and hopefully you will not do it again."
