Walker, Torres - Man City injury latest and return dates ahead of Boxing Day clash with Leicester

Kyle Walker looks as though he could miss out once again as Manchester City prepare for their Boxing Day clash with Leicester.

Pep Guardiola spoke to the media ahead of the festive period, and gave the latest on Walker’s fitness, as well as an update on Ferran Torres’ position.

City’s players were back in training on Thursday after taking two days off following the win over Newcastle, with their busy festive schedule in mind.

While games elsewhere fell victim to the rising number of positive Covid cases, City were relatively unaffected last weekend, although Guardiola did hint some players may have come down with the virus since.

“We had two days off, now we start to train this afternoon and we will see,” Guardiola said.

“Every day we do test, maybe we arrive and say this guy can't train he test positive or injuries. I cannot answer but hopefully we will be ready for Sunday.”

Here’s the latest on the injury front ahead of Leicester.

Kyle Walker

Walker is a major doubt for the Boxing Day, having not been named in the squad for the wins over Leeds United and Newcastle last week.

Guardiola confirmed in his pre-macth press conference on Thursday that Walker had been missing due to not being fit, and cast doubt over whether he would be ready for Boxing Day against the Foxes.

The City boss didn’t give a date as to when he could return, meaning we may not see him again until the New Year.

Possible return date: N/A

Ferran Torres

Torres remains out, with the 21-year-old on the verge of completing his move to Barcelona in the New Year.

The young forward hasn’t featured since injuring his foot while on international duty with Spain in October, and it looks increasingly likely we’ve already seen him play his last game for City.

Giving an update on Torres’ move to the Camp Nou, Guardiola said: “I know they are negotiating, it's close, that's all. When the club announces it's done.”

Possible return date: January
